Mountain Rambler Brewery

Our Story:

3 Dedicated friends from Bishop California are commited to bringing great brews to California's Beer Desert. Starting as a dream swimming in bottles of carefully capped home brews the Mountain Rambler Dream is now under construction on Main Street in Bishop California. We are ready to share our love of great beer, local food, and music with the community. Joe is the most commited to Brewcraft by apprenticing at Lost Coast Brewery in Northern California after an intensive program at the American Brewers Guild. His love for the Mountains and its potential for brewing brought him back to Bishop for this dream. Michael found his way to homebrewing in college and worked as a high country biologist falling in love with the mountains while brewing on his spare time. Julie worked building trails and leading crews through yosemite's high country. As Logistics manager she helps blaze trails through the unexpected business obstacles that we overcome. The Beer Desert 123 miles south and 43 miles north (and up a mountain) lies the the nearest breweries. Hundreds of thousands of tourists a year drive through town looking for a craft brew and a meal. People travel from Europe and the US to visit Yosemite national park, tour Death Valley, climb the High Sierra mountains, and visit the oldest trees in the world. The local community in Bishop is full of great people committed to the outdoors, and each other. Social groups met in peoples homes to plan trips or just celebrate local potlucks. That's all about to change.

Our Approach:

Mountain Rambler Brewery will be a base camp for adventure. A place to share stories and imagine future feats over a pint of magic. With a stage for local culture and focused menu we will feature local ingredients and pairings to bring out the full flavors of our mountain beers. The Missing Link We will unite friends at breweries in June Lake and Mammoth to make an Eastern California Pub Crawl where tourists can taste craft brews all the way from Yosemite to Death Valley. The Brew house also gives locals a place to meet up with friends, meet new folks and connect. Our Beers Pushing the envelope of flavor while maintaining a high standard of quality. Featuring a well honed Robust smoked porter, and Dark molases brew spiced with ginger right out of the gate will please the more adventurous drinkers. Further down the line we will feature a light souring program with a deliciously light Gose and more traditional brews as well. We are working with a California homestead farm in the Glass Mountains to perfect a unique double IPA with their delicious strain of Cascade hops and local yeast. Our rotating pale ale will present single hopped batches to bring out the uniqueness of each hop variety over a rich caramel base we have worked to perfection on the 10 gallon system. Scaling Up Our brewmaster studied in the American Brewers guild Intensive Science and Brewers Engineering program. Afterwards he completed an apprenticeship at Lost coast Brewery and knows his way around the brew house from the kettle to the yeast lab. Our 17 barrel stainless steel brew system is made locally and is ready to be installed once our brewery cement floor is poured. Each batch will be tasted by our quality control panel of volunteers which will consist of the brewing staff and committed locals who are trained to detect off flavors and fermentation issues. The local businesses and nearest breweries are excited to work with us to grow awareness of the craft food and beer scene which is sorely lacking in Eastern California.
